Clintar Toronto is now hiring for the position of Maintenance Supervisor.

Description:
Trains, supervises and supports field maintenance staff. Contributes to the planning and execution of summer landscape maintenance and winter snow and ice control. Responsible for quality control in those facets of the business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
*Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties • At all times conduct yourself in accordance with the Clintar philosophy outlined in the Employee Handbook; • Be an excellent teammate to your coworkers, and provide exemplary service to our clients; • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism when dealing with clients, coworkers and the public; • Supervise up to three maintenance crews in accordance with Clintar HR policies & procedures; • Coach and mentor your Crew Leaders and Crew Members to enhance their professional development; • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Aspire and other commonly used software applications; • Contribute input into developing and improving standardized work processes, • Prepare daily work schedules and help maximize operational efficiency; • Plan and conduct ongoing training for field staff in the areas of: customer service; horticultural and landscaping technical skills; Clintar standard operating procedures; and health and safety regulations and procedures; • Coordinate with Managers and Crew Leaders to ensure a common understanding of varying scopes of work and service quality expected by clients on every maintenance site; • Ensure appropriate scheduled maintenance of all tools and equipment used by crews under your supervision. If mechanic isn’t available, perform any necessary minor maintenance and repairs; • Ensure timely and accurate completion of Crew Leaders’ and Members’ daily time entries; • Visit client sites daily to enforce quality control over Clintar service delivery and to provide on-site guidance to Crew Leaders and Members; • Provide ongoing evaluation of Clintar standard operating procedures and offer input into improving service delivery, client retention and profitability; • In the winter months: train and supervise personnel performing snow and ice control services; visit sites and enforce quality control; share dispatching role with other Supervisors and Managers; and from time to time operate plowing or salting equipment; • Embrace a safety-focused work culture and strictly adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements, as well as Clintar Health & Safety protocols; • Responsible for Crew Leaders’ and Members’ adherence to OHSA safety regulations and Clintar Health & Safety protocols; • Responsible for quality of service provided to clients by Crew Leaders under your supervision; • Responsible for condition of clients’ properties serviced by Crew Leaders under your supervision; • Responsible for ensuring crew personnel under your supervision use all tools, equipment and vehicles in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions; • Monitor morale of field staff and work to promote a team culture; • Evaluate field staff performance, make recommendations for career advancement of field staff, and administer disciplinary action, all in accordance with Clintar HR policies and procedures; • Follow direction from Clintar Operations Manager; and • Seek out and pursue learning and growth opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skill set.

Requirements:
A clean and valid Ontario driver's license (G) is mandatory. A clean and valid D license is an asset.

Education and/or Experience:
Seven years experience in landscape maintenance, including no less than four years as a foreman/crew leader. Or a college diploma in horticulture, landscaping or equivalent plus four years of field experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
• Knowledge of all hand tools and powered tools commonly used in landscaping maintenance and enhancements and in snow and ice control, and the willingness and ability to teach this to Crew Leaders and Members under your supervision; and • Knowledge of Clintar’s strategic vision and goals and the willingness and ability to exercise leadership skills to ensure that all Crew Leaders and Members under your supervision adopt this vision and these goals as their own.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds; • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity and rain; and • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Language Skills:
Ability to: • Communicate professionally with coworkers, clients and the public; • Read and understand documents such as Health & Safety regulations, equipment operating and maintenance manuals and a variety of internal Clintar documents; • Read and understand general business periodicals, professional industry journals, technical manuals and government regulations; and • Prepare business correspondence, procedure manuals and reports.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to: • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area and volume and convert between metric and imperial.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to: • Carry out a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; and • Assess customer issues, collect relevant information, establish facts and draw appropriate conclusions for problem solving.
