Clintar Mississauga is now hiring for the position of Crew Member.

Description:

JOB SUMMARY Provides services to commercial customers by the proper and timely execution of lawn and landscape maintenance in the summer months; and snow clearing functions in the winter months. Maintenance of client sites require cutting of turf, bed and tree pit edging, shrub and flower care, weeding of beds and hard surfaces, and litter control. You may also be assigned other duties that you will be expected to complete from time to time. In winter months includes clearing of walks, stairs, doorways and applying ice melt products.



Duties & Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform manual duties to maintain landscaped environments including but not limited to mowing and raking lawns, weeding gardens and pruning trees and shrubs, clearing walkways, stairs and applying ice melt materials.

• Assist in the construction of landscapes including but not limited to spreading topsoil, laying sod and planting flowers, grass, shrubs and trees.

•Perform work to assist in the construction of landscape features.

• In the winter months, work in snow removal based on the work schedule set by the Walks Manager.

• Report lawn, tree, shrub and flower problems to Crew Leader in the summer; and snow and ice control problems in the winter months.

• Communicate with customers and report any issues or complaints to the Crew Leader.

• Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment including but not limited to riding mowers, walk behind mowers, push mowers and a variety of power and non-powered hand tools in summer.

• Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment including but not limited to sidewalk tractors, snow blowers, salt spreaders, liquid applicators and shovels

• Follow all Health & Safety regulations including wearing approved protective equipment.

• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)

• All assigned training to be completed by the date of completion.



Education and/or Experience:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 

• A college or horticultural school diploma or equivalent; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: as required by Federal and Provincial laws. Must have a clean and valid driver's license. Ontario Exterminator License, Landscape Horticulture Certification preferred or the desire to obtain during employment.

• Read and interpret written documents such as Health & Safety regulations, equipment operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

• Complete all assigned training

• Calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, volume and metric grams.

• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

• Must frequently lift/or move up to twenty-five pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to fifty pounds.

• The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hot and cold temperatures, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

• Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
