Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY
Supervise field operations providing quality and timely service for Clintar Landscape Management’s customers through the demands of all four seasons. This includes training and supervision of field staff, contributing to the planning and execution of all work requirements, providing quality control through site visits and working to maximize the potential of the staff and equipment resources available.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

● Directly supervises crew leaders and crew members through winter and summer activities.
● Ensure equipment and materials are assigned to crews.
● Plan and conduct ongoing training for field service staff in customer relations skills; horticulture and technical skills; and health & safety policies and procedures.
● Ensure a high degree of diplomacy when dealing directly with customers.
● Monitor and maintain facility and yard organization with respect to crew assigned equipment and space.
● Determine work procedures, prepare daily and weekly work schedules and expedite work flow.
● Issue written and oral instructions.
● Ensure appropriate scheduling and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. If mechanic not available, complete minor repairs to equipment and tools.
● Maintain ‘Daily Trip Report’ files.
● Maintain regular contact with customers through weekly site visits to determine specific concerns of their sites and determine any additional work requirements. Notes of conversations with customers are to be entered into Aspire database with follow-up schedules indicated.
● Ensure timely and accurate completion of crew leaders and crew member’s time and site schedules using the companies Aspire program.
● Evaluate regularly Clintar’s service to customers and develop procedures to eliminate customer complaints.
● Monitor field staff morale and work to promote a total team effort.
● Work with management to identify ways to ensure a high customer retention rate.
● Evaluate performance, make salary recommendations and work with HR Manager in regard to crew disciplinary action consistent with HR policies and procedures.
SOME SNOW AND ICE MANAGEMENT SPECIFIC TASKS
• Supervise the day to day operations of sites to be completed by crew leaders and members, operators, and drivers to the full satisfaction of management and clients.
• Ensure and check all sites for which supervisor is responsible to ensure no hazardous conditions following an event and that it is safe and complete
• Long hours could be necessary to ensure the crews have completed their tasks
• In conjunction with management and other supervisors deploy and shut-down sidewalk crews, plows, and salters as required to combat weather conditions
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A degree/diploma from university, college or horticultural school or equivalent; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
● Must frequently lift/or move up to twenty-five pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to fifty pounds.
● The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
● Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
● Must be willing and able to work Snow and Ice Management timelines as required. Being on call as storms approach 24 hours a day ready for deploying crews to react to snow and ice events and clean-ups after the storm.
